The extreme context
is the relationshp
of that focus point
to objects that are
outside immediate
spatial relationship.
In this photo, the near context is the evergreen just to the left of center. The interme-
diate context is the apple tree to the left. The extreme context in this case is both the
mountains in the back and the grass in the near foreground. The visual tension created
by context keeps the viewer’s eye on the row of evergreens.
