clearly designed around the idea that optimal im-

ages require fewer, better structured, photo-sites.
Compared to our 1Ds Mark II, the 1Dx wins

hands down. However, when comparing the 1Dx
to the Mark III, the winner isn't as clear. While

the images we created with the 1Dx are "clearer,"
I am not sure I can explain what this means pre-

cisely. Do the 1Dx images have detail to match the
1Ds Mark III? I am not sure. JD, whose opinion

I trust on such matters, has concluded that there
is more detail in the images taken with the 1Dx.

He also feels that the 1Dx renders colors that are
“more natural" and “more accurate." Even so, it

depends in part on what you are photographing.
In certain cases the images are definitely sharper

and edges appear to be crisper.
Even if the images aren't markedly better, Can-

on’s EOS 1Dx is still an incredible camera. Designed
around heart-stopping technology, it makes a bold

statement and forges a radical new path. ■
