INTERVIEW BY FRANCOIS DEWYNTER
o how was Vegas? Seems like a
strange place for you to be. I can think
S of many places that I would expect to
see you—but Vegas? I know you were there
for WPPI, but even that seems to be a bit of
an oxymoron—I mean "Wedding and Portrait
Photographers International"?
FALCONONWPPI
Falcon: I suppose that has always been true in
a sense, even when weddings were the largest
part of our revenue.
Francois: Then what takes you there? What's
the purpose?
Falcon: Well, it gives us the opportunity to meet
with our partners, form new partnerships, and
get a general feel for what's happening in that
particular corner of our industry.
Francois: When talking to you after WPPI last
year, I remember you mentioning that there
appeared to have been a significant demo-
graphic shift in terms of attendees. Was that
true this year?
Falcon: Yes, but in a different way, I suppose.
JD noted it the first day—fewer twenty-some-
things this year by far. Seemed like an older
crowd. I never saw the "official” attendance
numbers, but as far as we could tell, overall at-
tendance was down—and not by just a little.
Francois: Really? What do you estimate—ten
percent? More?
