Not long after we began working in the burned-out house, we worked with a young
woman named Katherine. She would become my second muse, after Torment. I
remember looking at a photo of her on One Model Place—caught in the depth of the
emotion in her eyes, I was determined to work with her. As we prepared to work,
she turned to me and asked, “What do you want me to do?” I put in one of the CDs
I’d brought with me. “Listen to the words,” I replied, “and show me what you are
feeling.” The song I played was “My Immortal” by Evanescence. The results were
breathtaking.
