Analysis
1. We typically don’t expect the eyes to be
closed.
2. And the banding across her face furthers the
emotional experience.
3. “Depth of Field” - the area of the photo that
is sharp and clear - is confined only to her face.
Even then, the eye away from the viewer seems
to fade slightly. The shadow over that eye helps
that sense of her hiddenness.
This image was created as a JPG - Falcon had
not yet started working in RAW. He did shortly
after this. Some of the loss of detail in the side
of her face is the result of that. Still the emo-
tional power of the image more than compen-
sates for this problem.
