Left: One of the strobes was
placed outside the room. The
softbox was pointed up and
away from Marquaysa. There
was no other way to keep the
strobe from reflecting in the
window behind her. Besides,
I needed this light to "push"
the blacks closer to the whites
in the room The work would
be done by the Cine Reflector
on the second strobe.
Initially, I tried pointing this strobe so that the soft-
box faced the window. I tried tilting the head down
so that the softbox essentially was aimed towards
the floor. That still created a reflection though most
people might not have seen it. I also tried pointing
the softbox up as close to parallel to the ceiling as
possible. That created a reflection as well.
I didn't bother to try pointing the softbox down and
away from the window. I knew from the physics in-
volved that that wouldn't work. That left one op-
tion: Pointing the softbox up and away. It didn't take
much power either - about 50% of full power.
The strobe with the Cine Reflector was placed in the
door way to the right of the couch at a sharp angle.
