vere technical problems, large sections of the dress were “burned out” and the subject’s face nearly void
of detail. With version 8 and Film Pack 3, nearly all the detail is visible. Note also the detail in her face.
Above: Figures 1 and 2 show the two most significant features added in version 8. Figure 1 (left),
Selective Tone and Figure 2 (right), Smart Lighting. While Smart Lighting removes many of the fea-
tures present in version 7, for example explicit control of Black Point and White Point (Gamma is moved
to the Tone Curve), we found Smart Lighting to be incredibly powerful. Selective Tone significantly
enhances lighting control. We found it to be extremely powerful, especially when it came to managing
complex lighting problems.
