W ynter tarried far too long. The tired eyes of February bequeathed
a March that was restless, uneasy, and cold. Alone and apart
there stirred within me a longing for golden dawns and sunsets
that settle quietly into the burgundy hands of the coming of nyght.
Even now, as April wept and died in the arms of May, breathless
mornings cast a long and gray shadow over the promise of spring that
lingers even as summer draws near. If only it were the warmth of the sun and
the promise of days that seemed forever to last, then would be my heart
still. But alas, that is not to be,
There's a hole in my heart and I'll carry it wherever I go
Like a treasure that travels with me down every road
There's this longing lonesome - deep - kind of bitter, kind of sweet
There's a hole in my heart in the shape of you
(Jewel: In the Shape of You)
And I am reminded again, that I cannot hold the heart of the one I love
anymore than I can bring an end to a wynter that has slain my heart and
wounded my eyes. In this issue we celebrate spring, and we pray that many
a nyght passes before wynter returns again.
