a) The color temperature was 5400 degrees Kelvin.
b) I changed the color temp to 6242 and the tint to +9.
3. Next, I went to DxO Smart Lighting and changed the setting from Slight to DxO Optics Pro 9. I
raised the intensity to 165. This brought out the detail in the tractor and in the grass, however, it
caused the sky to lose color and detail. I would have to correct this so that the sky became more
dramatic. I could have achieved the same effect using DxO Optics Pro 7 lighting but this option
achieves the same effect faster.
4. Lowering the exposure was my next adjustment I lowered it slowly and decided that -.79 cre-
ated the best balance between the detail I had been able to recapture and the loss of detail and
color in the sky.
5. Next, I decided I needed to work on the sky. I have learned that for me at least working on the
problem areas first results in a better, more balanced looking, image. I would do this using two
tools: Selective Tone, and Clear View.
a) Selective Tone:
i. I lowered the Highlights to -12.
ii. I lowered the Midtones to -8
iii. I left the other options at zero.
b) Clear View: I lowered this setting to 18. I did experiment with other settings but 18
seemed to best create the subtle changes I wanted.
6. Color Accentuation is next in my methodology. I really wanted the image to be dramatic so
I pushed both Vibrancy and Saturation a bit farther than I usually do. The fact that I was using
Kodachrome 200 helped. A film that is more saturated would have lost too much detail if i raised
the saturation further.
a) Vibrancy: 75
b) Saturation: 51
7. I enabled HSL and raised Saturation to +4 just to add a bit more drama, especially in the sky.
8. I enabled Lens Softness Correction.
a) Global was lowered to -50. I was concerned about overly sharpening the image unin-
tentionally.
b) The other settings were left at their default.
9. Noise Reduction is next. I used the following values:
a) Luminance: 78
b) Chrominance: 100
c) Low Frequency: 100
