son - I am photographing is from the strobes, the more difficult
achieving that becomes. In fact, I could well make that problem
worse. How? I could end up with three “zones” of consistency
- one near the windows, one near my lights, and the third in
between. That would cause all manner of problems. The advan-
tage of using Fresnel technology is that it is designed to keep
light more cohesive over time and distance,
The bad news about Fresnel technology is that unless you
understand how that technology diffuses light, you can cre-
ate more problems than you will solve. Obviously, I could have
used more traditional soft boxes which I had with me, however,
they wouldn’t give me the effect I wanted. (See the diagram on
page 154 for more detail)
