Why You Should Use the Air Remote
And that didn't take into account the number of times we had to adjust the
strobe stands in order to reach the rheostat that adjusts the strobe's power.
A number of manufacturers have similar controls, however, not all controls are
as robust. The Profoto Air uses industry standard channels and if you don't think
this is important, think again. If you think every remote control supports indus-
try standard channels, look closely at what is or isn't supported. And try it. We
did. The Profoto Air does.
Support for industry standard channels, by the way,
means you can mix and match devices and transmit-
ters and receivers.
There are other advanced features including:
1 The ability to fire any device that supports in-
dustry channels.
2 Devices can be grouped as well. This makes
managing devices efficient.
3 The Profoto Air can be used as a transmitter
and a receiver. This is great if you want to remote-
ly trigger a camera - much as using a bulb would.
Of course, you would need a pair of Airs or an-
other receiver that supports industry standard
channels.
4 The Profoto Air has two connectors to facilitate
attaching it to various devices.
5 The Profoto Air can control the modeling light
as well as the strobe.
There are Canon and Nikon specific versions that
support TTL.
We strongly urge you to purchase a pair with your
DS-1.
