Page 3 - NyghtVision Magazine Volume 4 Student Edition
P. 3
Welcome
T his is our first special edition and it features the work of our best stu-
dents.
Teaching is important to us - it is our way of passing on our passion - it is
also our way of acknowledging our debt to our predecessors. JD Milazzo and I never
took a formal class in photography and everything we have learned has either been
through trial and error or through studying the work of those who came before us.
As I have noted in an earlier edition of this magazine, we are in debt to Penn, Smith,
Hurrell, Atget, and many others.
Were you to ask me what I enjoy most about teaching, I am not sure I could tell you.
However, I can say that when I look at the progress these students have made over
the short time we have worked with them, I cannot help but smile. To be a small part
of someone finding his or her own voice is an immense honor.
The selection of the work of these students is not intended to diminish the progress
others have made. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Each of these students has
created exceptional images and there is no better way to thank them for their dedica-
tion than to publish their work here.
A special thanks to Brian Erwin and ThinkTank Photo for sponsoring this edition
of our magazine and to all our sponsors for the support.
There is only now, only this moment, drink from it all you can. And, hold fast the
memories.
