Page 133 - Lighting the Unlightable Volume 1 #1
P. 133
Another angle
As we noted, once the volume of light is consistent, it doesn’t mat-
ter where you stand. Here I stood to the left of the bed (if I were
sitting on the bed) . I did not move the lights.
Note:
The lake behind Akira is visible. If the volume of
light were not consistent, this would not be true,
In fact, the brick outside the sliding glass door is
clearly visible. Again, were the volume of light not con-
sistent, this would not be true.
The detail of her dress, the rug on the floor, the
drapes to her right and left, even the reflection of the
drapes in the glass, are all visible.
There is even enough light coming through the
glass so that the shadows of the dividers in the glass
can be seen on the drapes to her right.
Did I plan this when I decided where to place my strobes? No. I
didn't need to. Remember, the goal is to light the room so that the
volume of light is consistent everywhere. When that happens, you
won't need to move the lights.
Aside from the fact that your images will be better lit, you will be
able to focus more on your creativity and less on the distraction of
technical problems.
